UK: Salt Reduction, Targets for 2024
Back in September 2020, Public Health England published two sets of targets for levels of salt in food products and drinks, to be achieved by 2024.
The targets, published here (to align with calorie reduction ambitions) are the 5th set of voluntary salt reduction targets, which aim to gradually reduce the levels of salt in the foods that contribute the most salt to the diet.
Salt targets have been set for crisps and snacks, flavored nuts, cakes, pastries, biscuits, meat alternatives, and beverages, among others.
