
The effect of a standard diet versus a Mediterranean diet, supplemented with EVOO and pistachios, on GDM incidence was compared (a total of 874 women completed the study). Results showed that an early dietary intervention in pregnant women with a Mediterranean diet supplemented with EVOO and pistachios reduced the incidence of GDM. The study concluded that this recommendation may be an important implication on the long-term health of the mother and the child.
