
The directives for the negotiations cover two potential agreements with the US: one on conformity assessment to make it easier for companies to prove their products meet technical requirements, and the other on eliminating tariffs on industrial goods, excluding agricultural products.
On July 25, 2018, EU and the US issued a joint statement for a Trade Agreement which would be beneficial for both parties to further strengthen trade relations between them. Since then, the EU and the US have been working to implement the actions agreed in the Joint Statement.
